Shotgun Sam’s Pizza Palace in Dallas operated at 3249 W. Northwest Highway across from Bachman Lake and another early 1970s spot was built near East Grand and Garland Road.

The restaurants featured distinctive Gay '90s-style decor, piano or banjo players, and specialized in pizza alongside "sam-wiches".

Instead of a number for your order, you'd get a giant poker card. When your order was ready they'd call your card!

Most of the original locations, including the Dallas spots, shut down by the mid-1980s.
