Crystal's Pizza & Spaghetti was a beloved DFW restaurant chain known for its massive pizza buffets and immersive arcade environments, but it permanently closed all locations in 2013. Founded in 1978 by Bill Waugh—the visionary entrepreneur behind Taco Bueno, Burger Street, and the famous Casa Bonita—Crystal's operated several high-volume locations across North Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado, including spots in Dallas, Fort Worth, and its iconic flagship in Irving.
The location I remember the most however was the one on Inwood Road across from Jesuit. Like its sister locations, the Inwood restaurant was engineered to feel like a "magic mansion" for kids, offering an expansive, multi-room footprint that made every visit feel like an exploration:
• The Haunted Library: A favorite dining room for parents and kids alike, featuring dark wood trim, cozy lighting, and shelves packed with antiques, curiosities, and vintage books.
• The Cartoon Theater: A dedicated screening room with rows of tables where kids could eat their pizza while watching continuous reels of vintage cartoons (like Mighty Mouse) and silent movies. Locals fondly remember original wooden movie posters adorning the theater walls.
• Playing Cards in the Ceiling: One of the most unique, community-driven traditions of the Inwood location was the ceiling. Over the years, patrons and roving magicians spiked hundreds of playing cards directly into the ceiling tiles, creating a surreal visual backdrop for diners.
This lightweight cotton tee features a relaxed fit and contrast trims that give it a retro look. Wear it with jeans, shorts, or joggers for a laid-back everyday look.
