Back when there was a youth recreational league in North Dallas, every registered player would receive a weekly publication about the league and it's teams. ("QUICK FOOT is published seven times. Five weekly issues beginning March 25, 1976, except for Easter week, then semi-monthly in May.") The league standings were published (you couldn't look it up online back then!). There would be a story or two from the league about league goings on, and some ads. Not the least of which would be an ad from "Mr. Soccer" (page 3), with their smiling soccer ball logo!
But the most exciting part of getting your "Quick Foot" was seeing if you or someone you know was on the cover or even in the other pictures they would put on each page. I mean, if they put your picture in the Quick Foot, then that MUST mean you're an awesome player, right?!
You can download the March 25, 1976 issue here!
Some pretty interesting things about this issue:
- Picture #9 (split between pages 4 and 5) is of the Bears team which I played on at the time (Under 10 - Div. III). That's Kyle Jung playing keeper.
- You'll also notice from that picture that if there was a jersey color conflict, we just went shirts v. skins
- Pretty sure calling Richard Jackson for photo reprints won't work anymore.
- Picture #12 depicts what most players did with the patches we got from the league (the same patches you'll find on the shirts for sale in this collection!)
- Some of the action in the pics would be called fouls nowadays...we just played through it all back then!
Peace!
